Look beyond the pastel façades with a guided walk through South Beach’s architectural story.
The plan
The Miami Design Preservation League’s walking tour adds context to buildings you might otherwise simply photograph. Guides cover Art Deco, Mediterranean Revival and Miami Modern architecture, connecting distinctive design details to the development of Miami Beach. The route may include selected hotel, restaurant and commercial interiors when access allows. Expect a real walking outing: roughly two hours over about a mile and a half, rather than a brief talk at the welcome center.
Tickets and meeting point
Tours leave from 1001 Ocean Drive. Adults 18–64 pay $50; seniors 65+ pay $40; ages 13–17 pay $35; children 12 and under are free. Select the available departure in the booking system. Headsets are included, with groups of up to twenty.
Make the walk comfortable
Wear shoes suitable for a sustained city walk and bring water and sun protection. Selected interior access depends on the route and venue availability; do not expect every famous hotel lobby to be part of every departure.
Before you go
Book your actual time before building lunch around it, and arrive at the welcome center early enough to check in without rushing.
