A picnic-and-beach option on Key Biscayne that rewards planning for parking, weather and a little more travel time.
The plan
Crandon’s two-mile beach, promenade and picnic areas offer a larger outdoor escape beyond the city’s urban neighborhoods. The county lists parking fees rather than a separate standard beach ticket. Picnic tables and grills let you plan a simple food budget. Different facilities operate to their own hours; the park-office schedule is not necessarily the schedule for the beach, watersports or recreation concessions.

Keep it comfortable
Bring drinking water and sun protection, and choose comfortable shoes for an outdoor visit. Keep an eye on the forecast and the venue’s notices before setting off. Leave the busiest part of your day flexible so a short walk can stay a relaxed outing rather than another appointment.
Before you go
The county prohibits glass and pets other than service animals. Check beach flags and posted rules before entering the water.
