An art visit rooted in the estate’s landscape and the relationship between close observation and the natural world.
The plan
The first phase of Deering Contemporary brings the 2026 artist-in-residence cohort into the first floor of Richmond Cottage. The exhibition considers ecological subjects through different scales and artistic approaches. This is an exhibition to visit during estate hours, with a separate opening reception on December 6 from 2–5pm. That reception requires its own reservation even though it is free.
What to expect
An art visit rooted in the estate’s landscape and the relationship between close observation and the natural world.
Build your visit
Choose a manageable route rather than trying to see every room. Start with the exhibition that interests you most, then leave some time for an unhurried second look. Check the museum’s own page for temporary gallery closures, special programming and any admission conditions before making a dedicated trip.
Before you go
To visit on a budget, reserve the December 6 reception rather than assuming ordinary daytime entry is free.
