See how Miami Modern reshaped the resort skyline in a Morris Lapidus landmark.
The plan
Eden Roc offers a focused look at the postwar Miami Modern style. Morris Lapidus used curved, sweeping lines, glass and bold color to make resort architecture feel futuristic. Begin with an exterior view from the public streets; hotel guest areas and hospitality services have their own access rules. This is an architecture stop rather than a hotel day pass.
What to look for
The city identifies Eden Roc as a Morris Lapidus example of MiMo architecture. Notice the sweeping curves and glass surfaces that distinguish it from smaller Art Deco hotels farther south.
Street-level planning
The hotel is at 4525 Collins Avenue in Mid-Beach. Start with the public exterior; ask hotel staff about access before entering guest areas or planning food and drink.
Before you go
Compare its curves with the straighter lines of neighboring towers.
