A botanical outing with room to explore, different from a large commercial attraction or beach day.
The plan
The former home garden of plant explorer David Fairchild invites a slower look at tropical plants, historic features and bayfront views. Choose a self-guided visit or a guided tour through the booking page. Reservations are encouraged, particularly because parking is limited. The garden publishes admission-waiver programs for qualifying visitors, with telephone registration required, and small in-person discounts for several local or lower-impact travel categories.
What to expect
A botanical outing with room to explore, different from a large commercial attraction or beach day.
Keep it comfortable
Bring drinking water and sun protection, and choose comfortable shoes for an outdoor visit. Keep an eye on the forecast and the venue’s notices before setting off. Leave the busiest part of your day flexible so a short walk can stay a relaxed outing rather than another appointment.
Before you go
Book ahead if arriving by car, and arrive before the 3pm last-entry cutoff even though the garden closes later.
