A community practice on the sand, with the ocean setting the mood.
The plan
Third Street Beach Yoga offers a straightforward outdoor ritual: arrive at the beach, settle onto the sand and practice with the group. The organization lists classes every day of the year, with seasonal morning and evening times. This is donation-based teaching rather than a resort fitness package, so bring cash to support the teacher and respect the shared beach setting. A sunrise or late-afternoon class can anchor a day without filling it with expensive activities.
Finding the group
From 3rd Street and Ocean Drive, walk through the park onto the beach and look near the lifeguard hut. The winter schedule, November through March, is 7am and 5pm daily. April through October uses 7am and 6pm. Outdoor conditions can affect the experience.
What to bring
Plan for practice on sand rather than a studio floor. Bring a towel or suitable practice surface, water and what you need for changing beach weather. Arrive early enough to find the group and settle in without interrupting.
Before you go
Bring a cash donation even when keeping the day inexpensive; community classes depend on support from the people attending.
