Discover how everyday objects carry big ideas, then take the conversation onto Washington Avenue.
The plan
The Wolfsonian is an appealing alternative to another beach afternoon: a museum where design, material culture and social history meet. Give the objects time and look for the messages carried by posters, furnishings and the things people once used every day. Exhibitions rotate, so use the official program to choose your visit rather than expecting a permanent checklist of objects. Its Washington Avenue address makes it a convenient stop while exploring central South Beach.
What admission costs
Adults pay $12; seniors, students with ID and children 6–18 pay $8. Florida residents enter free, as do children under six and several other eligible groups. Everyone can visit free on Fridays from 6–9pm.
Hours and practical details
Open Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 10am–6pm; Friday 10am–9pm. Closed Monday and Tuesday and listed holidays. Large bags, food and drink are restricted in galleries. The research library requires a separate appointment.
Before you go
For the easiest budget plan, choose Friday evening. Bring Florida identification if using resident admission on another day.
