Nine works by Marc Chagall join paintings, drawings, sculpture and lithographs by Jewish artists associated with the School of Paris.
The plan
Nine works by Marc Chagall join paintings, drawings, sculpture and lithographs by Jewish artists associated with the School of Paris. The exhibition considers migration, creative freedom and the memories artists carried into a new community. Archival material follows efforts to help Marc and Bella Chagall escape Nazi-occupied France, while an interactive migration map invites visitors to consider their own family journeys. This is a specific winter exhibition rather than a general museum visit. Give the art and documents time, and leave room for a thoughtful conversation about the connections between refuge, imagination and modern art.
